‘Ground-breaking’ conference on
disease-free food chain

FEDESA, Europes federation of the animal health industry, is organising what is billed as a “ground-breaking” conference on 1 July to look at whether it is possible to render the European food chain completely disease-free.

Delegates, comprising scientists, vets, the food industry and consumer representatives, will attempt to agree on a way of handling risk assessment.

Politicians will also attend to see if they can come up with an agreement on the role of food industry bureaucrats and politicians before a new BSE-style crisis emerges.
