Hadrians Wall OK

A £1.5m project, which will provide a wide range of capital grants to farmers along Hadrians Wall, Northumberland, has been approved by UK ministers and Brussels.

Projects which tackle farming and tourism problems will be eligible if they can show long-term environmental and economic benefits, say Northumberland National Park.

Work funded could range from farm buildings and livestock handling facilities to provision for tourist and school parties.

The grant has been awarded under the EUs objective 5b scheme. English Heritage, English Nature the Countryside Comm-ission and MAFF are contributing funds to the package. &#42
