Health imports warning

THE Scottish NFU has cautioned farmers about using imported animal health products.

It points out that foreign suppliers may be breaking their own national laws by supplying prescription only medicines (POM) without a veterinary prescription.

"Imported products must not only be licensed in the UK but must be labelled for the UK market and carry a UK licence number. Products without a UK label may not have the correct UK withdrawal period, or health and safety advice," the union states.

It also warns that it is illegal to buy Irish drugs by mail order or to import veterinary products to supply a third party. &#42
