HGCA cash for wild oats work
HERBICIDE resistance in wild oats is to come under closer scrutiny, thanks to core funding from the Home-Grown Cereals Authoritys grower levy.
The three-year project at ADAS Boxworth and IACR-Rothamsted will assess how widespread the problem is, investigate resistance patterns and develop strategies for its prevention, containment and control.
The goal is a package similar to that created for herbicide-resistant blackgrass by the Weed Resistance Advisory Group.
Agrochemical suppliers AgrEvo, Cyanamid, Monsanto and Zeneca are collaborating in the work, contributing £80,000 to supplement the HGCAs £148,670. *
