High-hp harvester from Massey Ferguson

At this year’s Paris SIMA show Massey Ferguson will be unveiling a new “super-large” combine, ready for evaluation in European conditions this season.

The US-built MF 9895 rotary combine is apprently spearheading parent-company Agco’s push to become a harvesting technology world-leader.

Made in the Gleaner plant at Hesston, Kansas, the new combine has what is claimed to be the largest rotor in the industry at 0.8m diameter x 3.5m long.

The rotor is hydrostatically driven which reduces the complexity and maintenance associated with belts and provides a reverse facility to ease unblocking in tough conditions.

Grain tank capacity is 12,300 litres which is unloaded in just over a minute. Power is supplied by a 12.5-litre engine delivering 459hp.

Square baler

A new range of Hesston-sourced big square balers will also join the line-up. Developments increase baling capacity on every model, with up to a third more output from the flagship MF 2190 compared to its predecessor.

All models are equipped with an independent hydraulic pump and circuit to ensure consistent operation, regardless of other loads on the tractor’s hydraulics.
