High prices for red ladies at Carlisle

IN LINE with this autumns exceptional demand for Limousin bulls, females on offer at the Red Ladies sale at Carlisle last week sold to a top price of 7200gns.

Once again the strongest bidding came for a Broadmeadows Cannon daughter. This time it was Broadmeadows Jiji, a young in-calf cow from Broadmeadows Pedigree Livestock that had originally been sold for 10,000gns at the herds dispersal sale, but was found to be in-calf and was returned to the vendor. This time she heads for Thirsk, North Yorkshire with S and G A Potter.

Walter Smith Farms served heifer Roughley Jessie went to J W &#42 Neale, Launceston Cornwall after taking the championship under judge Miss Melanie Peters, Exeter. Jessie, by Tanhill Brilliant was in-calf to Cheadlewood Jazz.

Another stylish daughter of the Canadian sire Titan made 4200gns. Broadmeadows Jay, from Broadmeadows Livestock, was 2nd in a class of 26 at Limousin 2000 and lead the junior heifer class at the 1995 Royal Highland Show. Buyer was Buriton Estates, Petersfield, Hants.
