Hunt vote plans please no one
FOX-HUNTING opponents and supporters have both condemned plans to give MPs a chance to vote on four options on the future of the field sport.
Hunt opponents will warn Tony Blair that allowing MPs to choose from a range of options would be “totally unacceptable”, reports The Daily Telegraph.
The four choices would include an outright ban; allowing hunts to be licensed; leaving the law unchanged; or allowing local referendums on the issue.
The pro-hunting Countryside Alliance said any plans to legislate before the Governments independent inquiry would “pre-empt” its conclusions.
Anti-hunting groups say the choice option would provoke an outcry from members of the public who want a ban on hunting.
