Hunts must ask to dig on Forestry Commission land

THE Forestry Commission said the 80 foxhunts which operate on its land will have to seek permission to use terriers or dig out foxes which have gone to ground.

Permission will only be given in exceptional circumstances. The Commission will be able to revoke licences at one months notice.

Deer hunting will continue to be suspended for the rest of the year. Commissioners are reviewing the implications of a report for the National Trust which says deer hunting is cruel.
