Imports save ££s

IRISH farmers are being encouraged to look to the other side of the world for cheaper agrochemicals.

A recent study by the Irish Farmers Association (Eires NFU equivalent) shows herbicide prices in Australia can be as little as a third of the Irish price, says grain chairman, John OMahony.

Mr OMahony is urging agrochem retailers such as co-ops and merchants to seriously consider bypassing distributors and import directly from Australia, Canada and the US to save growers money.

Officials have confirmed that the procedures involved are no different to imports from the EU. &#42
