Its good to talk to stressed folk

EXPERTS are urging farmers to pick up the telephone this Christmas and ring someone who has had a tough time.

Caroline Davies, director of the Rural Stress Information Network, said the festive season was likely to be difficult for many farmers. With this in mind it is extending its helpline to offer 24 hour cover over the holiday period. "Although calls from people in distress have fallen, those ringing now are in desperate situations," said Mrs Davies.

The helpline – 02476 412916 – is open 24 hours from 5pm today (Fri, Dec 21) to 9am on Wed Jan 2. If the line is busy, callers are asked to keep trying or ring the Samaritans on 08457 909090. &#42
