James Finlay buoyed by high tea prices

JAMES FINLAY, the plantations company 30% owned by John Swire, lifted interim pre-tax profits from £2.6 million to £8.6m on the back of high tea prices.

The group said Kenyan tea prices had risen to 120p/kg in January and February after floods washed away the road to Mombassa where the tea auctions were held.

Sales in the six months to 30 June rose from £79.7m to £117.1m.
