JUDGES GET READY

FOR THE TOUGH

TASK AHEAD

CHOOSING an overall champion in the beef classes at this years winter fair will be down to Perthshire farmer John McGregor.

As well as judging the individual beef classes and the overall championship, Mr McGregor, from Binn Farm, Glenfarg, has to decide who will win the interbreed trophy as well as judging the young farmers cattle classes.

Responsibility for judging the sheep classes and selecting the breed and overall champions lies with Dumfriesshire farmer Brian MacTaggart of Douganhill Farms, near Castle Douglas.

Butcher cattle classes and pairs of cattle will be placed by Gerald David from Somerset, while Graham Fenton of Newlands Farm, Guildtown, Perth, will decide where the honours lie in the live cattle section of the meat exhibition competition.

Carcasses for this event will be judged by Jimmy Robertson, Forth Meat Supplies, Galashiels.

John McGregor.
