Keep records up to date

ARRANGEMENTS for milk producers to keep milk records up to date during the foot-and-mouth crisis have been instigated by NMR.

Customers can send in recording information to processing centres via telephone, post, fax or electronically, while on-farm visits by its staff are suspended.

Producers wishing to take their own samples for milk quality analysis will have access to disinfected sample boxes which will be delivered and collected according to strict guidelines, it adds.

"I urge producers to maintain comprehensive herd records, particularly health and fertility events. Once a full service is resumed, we will aim to update any missing records as soon as possible," says NMRs Frank Armitage. &#42
