Keeping young stock comfy…

OLD tyres and a pallet are all that is needed to convert conventional cubicles for young stock.

Dairy consultant John Hughes recommends that two 225m (9in) tyres are secured to each cubicle side rail. As the animal grows one set of tyres should be removed to increase cubicle width.

He advises securing a pallet across the cubicle width to position stock. As time goes by it should be pushed forward to allow more lying length in the cubicle.
