Kent estate for organic expansion

AN organic grower has bought 330 acres of the Great Dowles Estate at Stelling Minnis, just south of Canterbury in Kent, at a figure close to the £1.435m guide.

It includes a farmhouse, bungalow and a pair of cottages.

Easy working land and large field sizes attracted a good level of farming interest locally, according to selling agent Strutt & Parker. The buyer already farms organically in the area and was looking to expand.

Put on the market in April, the sale was aptly confirmed at the Game Fair, held last weekend at Lord and Lady Romseys Broadlands Estate in Hampshire; Great Dowles was also owned by a member of the late Lord Mountbattens family.

The vendor has retained a house and 250 acres. &#42
