A NEW motor, percussion system and gearbox on Makitas HP2040 percussion drill is designed to reduce vibration by up to 50% and lower noise levels, without affecting penetration rates.

Power comes from a 650W motor and a large, long-stroke trigger claims to allow precise speed control, reducing fatigue during deep drilling operations, and forward/reverse action makes the drill suitable for screwdriving operations.

The drill features a palm grip or pistol syle switch handle and a 360deg side handle and is capable of drilling holes up to 20mm diameter in masonry, 40mm in wood and 13mm in steel. Weighing 2.3kg the HP2040 is priced at £99.00 (01908-211678).
