Labour delegates get the message

By FWi staff

DELEGATES to the Labour Party Conference were given a preview of the concerns of farmers and country sports campaigners as they travelled into Brighton.

Signs and posters peppered the last 10 miles of the A23 into the town, urging party members and in particular Prime Minister Tony Blair to listen to rural concerns.

Many were straight on the attack. “Labour lies” read one, with another proclaiming “Countryside needs us, not you Blair”.

But others were less confrontational.

A Country Landowners Association board simply said: “Healthy farms = attractive landscape”.
