Lancs unit in Salop move
WITH few sizeable dairy units on the market so far this year, farmers looking to trade up their acreage are relocating to meet their needs.
Grange Farm, Bomere Heath, near Shrewsbury, went under the hammer recently for £1.63m (£4429/acre), including 1.26m litres of milk quota.
The successful bidders are moving down from Lancashire to the 368-acre dairy farm, and the under bidders were from Yorkshire.
Auctioneer David Giles of Halls says that land in Shropshire is usually bought locally, but on this occasion most of the interest was out of the county.
