Lime mapping

THIS autumn farmers in the north-east and East Midlands can save time and money by pin-pointing exactly which fields would benefit from lime.

Agricultural merchant Cargill is introducing a soil pH mapping service as part of its programme to develop a National Lime Advisory Service. The move follows the successful trial of the service in the south and south-west. Following soil sample tests, farmers there were given a detailed map identifying exactly where lime is needed and in what quantities.n
