Limousin best of multi-breeds

A LIMOUSIN bull topped the trade at last weeks multi-breed beef breeding sale at Hallworthy, Cornwall.

Grace Liceano, an Uplands Dai son bred out of a Grange Adonis dam, made 2750gns. It was consigned by D W Nanckivell, Bude; and went home with local buyer Mr Davey.

Another Limousin, the six-year-old Epatant son Goldies Goldrush from J &#42 Neale, Launceston, made 2500gns and was one of five bulls to make 2000gns and over.

Westcroft herd

The show champion was from the Westcroft herd of Miss Peters, Exeter and made 1400gns to C Rush.

A Limousin cow and calf from J &#42 Neales Nealford herd led the females at 2250gns. This second calver, with a nine-month-old Goldies Goldrush heifer calf at foot, was by Mereside Earl. Five Limousin bulling heifers sold to 1800gns.

AVERAGES: Eight senior Limousin bulls £2055; four junior bulls £1410; two Limousin cows with calves at foot £1850; five Limousin bulling heifers £1250; one Hereford bull £840; one Simmental bull £840; and one Charolais bull £945. (Kittows)
