Lincs group on the trail of fund cash

BESIDES raising almost £400 for their countys air ambulance, Lincolnshire young farmers gained lots of good publicity for their movement with their Chopper Challenge.

This entailed a two-night tractor trail around the county, driving a JCB Fastrac with a trailer and a cut-out model of a helicopter.

The outfit was supported at various stages by groups of enthusiastic cyclists and – for the Saturday morning drive through Lincoln – a brand new Land Rover Discovery tdi.

On Sunday afternoon rain caused discomfort, but the intrepid cyclists shrugged it off and were consoled with an icecream.

The trip began in Stamford with an official send-off by the chairman of South Kesteven District Council, a past Gran-tham YFC member. Overnight stops were made in Heckington and Wainfleet and the expedition ended at the Nickerson Arms, Rothwell, the new meeting place for Laceby YFC.

This group of Lincolnshire young farmers was dubbed "The Survivors" after completing their Chopper Challenge to aid their countys air ambulance.
