Lumbylaw Lim buyers support BLUP

A BIG crowd of enthusiastic buyers confirmed the commitment to BLUP performance figures at the sale of Limousin bulls from the Lumbylaw herd last Saturday.

Those present saw 46 cattle aver-age £3480, with a top of 10,000gns.

Northumberland suckled calf producer Fred Murray, Wooler paid the top price for Lumbylaw Linchgate, a Haltcliffe Hercules son, with an impressive Beef Value of 79.

Richard Oates, Oxnam Row Farm, Jedburgh, offered 52 bulls, bred in his 300-cow herd, the biggest pedigree Limousin herd in the UK.

At 8200gns another Hercules son, Lumbylaw Lovelorn, was bought by G Powell, Newtown, Powys. He had a Beef Value of 52.

Three bulls made 6000gns. Two Hercules sired entries went to R Thornton, Kirkwhelpington, North-umberland and P Cooper and Son, Forfar while a son of the home-bred Lumbylaw Handsome (by Rake Terence) went to Aberdeen with J C Innes.

The sale included the 1000th bull to be sold from Lumbylaw. It made 3000gns and the proceeds went to the Red Cross Society. (Harrison and Hetherington.) &#42
