MAFF warned over Millennium Bug

COMPUTER expert Richard Copple has warned that many of the Department of Agricultures computer systems could be plagued by the Millennium Bug.

Mr Copple, chief executive of Prove It 2000, has written to Dr Jack Cunningham, agriculture minister, warning him of the urgency to upgrade MAFFs computer systems.

The Scotsman says the consequences for agriculture could be enormous, covering a wide range of commodities as well as payments to farmers seeking compensation for BSE imposed measures.
