THE straights market remains fairly static, with home-produced maize gluten pellets and soya-bean meal the main movers.
Maize gluten fell 4/t during the week, and soya-bean meal (Hi-pro) by 3/t.
“The maize was a single shipment, so no double freight costs were incurred,” says David Clarke of KW Alternative Feeds.
“The boat had also been delayed for a week, which has affected the price.
Prices of soya-bean meal have been influenced by reports of heavy rainfall in the mid-west over the weekend.
“Also, the recent US Department of Agriculture report, which forecast a good planting for next year, has helped matters,” adds Mr Clarke.
“All in all, things are now starting to look up.”
