Maize growers competition

MAIZE seed, silage inoculant and cash prizes are on offer in this years National Maize Silage Competition sponsored by Midland Bank, Biotal and farmers weekly.

The competition, organised by the Maize Growers Association (MGA), is open to all maize growers in England and Wales.

Entrants will be judged at a local level and winners will go on to compete in one of five regional heats. Regional winners, who each receive £50 cash, will be visited by judges who will examine the silage clamp, take a silage sample and assess production and costings information related to the stock being fed the maize silage.

Overall winner will be awarded the Midland Bank Trophy, £250 towards the next MGA overseas study tour and enough Goldstore maize silage inoculant to treat 500t of silage.

All entrants are put into a prize draw for seed donated by Force Limagrain.
