Malaysian military slaughter 64,000 pigs
MALAYSIAN armed forces will have killed 64,000 pigs by this weekend in a fight against a deadly virus said to have caused the deaths of 51 people.
The animals are suspected to carrying Japanese encephalitis (JE), which is transmitted from infected pigs to humans by the culex mosquito.
The JE outbreak has caused some farmers to abandon their farms.
