Market folk meet up at Ashford indoor barbie

A BARBECUE at Ashford Market, Kent, organised by Hobbs Parker, brought together over 400 farmers, auctioneers and friends and although rain forced the event under cover, it could not dampen the tremendous atmosphere.

Explaining the decision to hold the event, Richard Wood from Hobbs Parker said: "Due to the foot-and-mouth crisis and the market being closed, many of our clients and friends have not met for some time. The whole industry is in turmoil and we felt it was important to bring everyone together. We are all part of the predicament and we must all stick together giving support to each other when and wherever possible."

All the money raised during the evening has been donated to the Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution.
