Mart turnover down by £3.7m


CALEDONIAN Marts in Stirling made a profit of just £7509 last year as turnover fell by £3.7 million.

The good news was that commission on cattle sales increased by £18,000 – indicating some recovery in the sector. Commissions on sales of quota and insurance were up by £5000 and £6000 respectively.

Commissions earned on sales of store sheep was down by £23,000 and on prime sheep by £32,000. Breeding cattle commission was down by £10,000.
