Mascot daughter attracts in Devon

A MASCOT daughter with a 9100kg yield to her credit created most interest at the joint sale of autumn calving Holstein Friesian cattle from the Winkleigh and Hemsington herds in Devon.

Hemsington Mascot Desire (VG-85) from Maurice Cock and Partners made 1700gns. Three months calved, she was bred out of a Sexation Amos dam and was sold to an anonymous buyer from South Devon.

Winkleigh Raider Genette 19th, a second calver that topped 10,000kg as a heifer, made 1650gns for Messrs R M and C E Harris. She had been calved two months and was recording 53.4kg a day.

Buyers were J Chamings and Partners who claimed several lots including Winkleigh Cleitus Norma 58th – (PIN +£84) – a 10,000kg heifer giving 48kg a day with her second that realised 1580gns.

Averages: Hemsington – 37 cows £878 and seven heifers £829. Winkleigh – 18 cows £952 and 30 heifers £913. (Norton and Brooksbank with Stags)n
