MBTrac back on line?

MB Tracs could be back in production within the next month – but under a different name and different ownership.

German firm LandTechnik Schonebeck is currently negotiating with the original owner, Mercedes-Benz, to take on the machines manufacture. LTS hopes to sign an agreement within the next 10 days.

Should the deal go through, LTS will initially build a 160hp model with smaller 110hp and 90hp tractors to follow.

According to the firms Ronald Fenner, the new tractors will look similar to the old MB Trac, but cab interiors will be improved and there will be uprated hydraulics and a new semi-powershift transmission. Top speed will be increased from 40kph to 50kph.

Initial production is destined for the German market. However, LTS is likely to be looking for a UK importer within the next 12 months.
