MD Foods quashes rumours that it is to quit UK

MD FOODS of Denmark will visit its UK facilities today as part of a two-day tour. The trip signals the dairy groups continued commitment to the UK, quashing rumours that heavy losses would persuade it to pull out.

The UK is the largest single market for MD Foods. In the last financial year MD Foods International lost £22million.

Jens Bigum, group managing director, said the UK gave the group a larger base from which to supply retailers across Europe into the next century. He expects further rationalisation in the UK dairy market.
