Meadowlawn in demand

THE breeding of the Jersey bull Meadowlawn J Imperial was in demand at the spring sale of cattle at Ross-on-Wye and achieved the days highest prices.

All the leading bids came for stock from the dispersal of Paul and Kate Mathers Siglen herd at Malvern, Worcs. Top call was 850gns paid by Robert Graham and Son, Bridge of Allan, Stirling for a fifth-calver by Imperial.

The same buyers also gave 700gns for the freshly-calved heifer Mountowen Abide 158th – daughter of Huronia Jodys Galaxy – and 700gns for an in-calf heifer by Imperial.

Jimmy Irving, Stafford took a third calver by Imperial, at 680gns. A consignment of 14 heifer calves from the Glanmor herd of D R and M J Phillips, Kidwelly, Carmarth-enshire reached 240gns for one by Galaxy bred out of an Imperial dam.
