MF handler due for UK

A MASSEY Ferguson telescopic handler, decked out in the firms familiar red livery, should be available in the UK for this silage making season.

After the signing of an agreement with French maker FDI Sambron (Machinery, Feb 14), first examples of a new Sambron-built, farm spec machine are scheduled to arrive in May. A smaller, entry-level model should appear later in the year.

Sticking to traditional Sambron principles, both handlers will be hydrostatically driven by mid-mounted engines, the bigger MF8937 being available with a choice of either 78hp or 106hp Perkins units.

That mid-mounted power tran-slates into maximum lift of 3t to a height of 7.11m (23.3ft), and horizontal reach to 4m (13ft) with a 1.2t load. All the customary telescopic features will apply, including four-wheel-steer and joystick lever control of the four main boom functions. Machine prices are yet to be announced.

lSambron will continue to sell its handlers to industrial and construction markets, with MF activity restricted to the agricultural sector. &#42
