FARMERS will have the chance to compete in a new livestock and carcass exhibition in the Midlands this December.
The Royal Smithfield Club Winter Fair – to be held in interim years between Londons biennial Royal Smithfield Show – will comprise a livestock show at Lichfield on Dec 2, followed by a carcass event at Congerstone on Dec 5.
"Its going to be a professionals show, with the accent on quality," says David Child of The Royal Smithfield Club. Likely to attract much interest, he adds, is the suckled calf section, the top animals in which could go on to collect awards at the next Royal Smithfield at Earls Court in Nov 2000. *
