THE militant environmental group, Genetix Snowball, has warned it will wreck another genetically-modified crop trial site this weekend.

Five protesters from the Manchester-based group were arrested two weeks ago after they ripped up GM oilseed rape plants at a trial site on a farm near the village of Watlington, Oxfordshire.

A spokesman told FWi that seven protesters will this time target a GM trial site on a farm in either Gloucestershire, Warwickshire or Oxfordshire.

Genetix Snowball is calling for a five-year moratorium on the release of GM crops into the environment. Its members have vowed to destroy at least one GM trial site every two weeks until their demands are met.

Anti-GM protestors, including those from Genetix Snowball, have so far destroyed 26 of the estimated 300 GM trial sites in the UK.
