Milk price forces Earl to sell herd
THE 11th Earl De La Warr is selling his entire herd of dairy cattle and moving out of the business for the time being because he “can no longer go on making a loss for ever”.
His herd was once ranked among the nations finest, according to a report in The Daily Telegraph.
The sale takes place on Friday at the 182ha (450 acre) Buckhurst Farm, next to the family home, Buckhurst Park, in East Sussex.
The Earl is still retaining ownership of the milk quota with a view to a possible return to the dairy business at some later date. He is not selling the farm.
