THE RURAL Payments Agency has reminded farmers that the annual deadlines for permanently transferring milk quota are approaching fast.

Though the form is the same as in previous years, it has an added significance.

That is because quota held at the end of this milk year (March 31) will determine farmers‘ entitlements to the two new dairy payments: Dairy Premium and Additional Payment.

And this year, the paperwork must have been received on the due dates, not posted, says the RPA.

The Agency must have received the MQ1 forms for permanent transfers by lease of land must by March 1.

Forms for all other permanent transfers, including those without land, should be in by March 31.

The RPA was at pains to stress that faxed forms would not be accepted. The address for postal submissions is PO Box 277, Exeter, EX5 1WB.

Forms can also be hand delivered to the Agency‘s Kings House office in Reading until midnight on Mar 31.
