MLC urges beef farmers not to quit

THE Meat and Livestock Commission has urged beef farmers still reeling from the BSE crisis to keep faith rather than give up farming.

The MLC forecasts a longer term increase in global demand for red meat and has pledged to be there to help exporters penetrate foreign markets.

MLC chairman Don Curry said: “Farming has been going through a very difficult time during the last year, but we have seen an increase in the consumption of beef. Now is not the time to give in.”
