MOET nucleus cows on sale

BIDDING reached 4600gns at Crewe last weekend, after the MOET nucleus scheme invited consignments of stock from breeders who have bought at previous MOET sales.

Cows in full flow of milk were the most sought after and it was the February calver Moet Chesapeake Sofi B, bred from the renowned Conant-Acres Sweet family, that led the day with a succesful bid from Messrs Hughes and Sons to add her to their Normarston herd in Warks.

Three heifers were offered from the Escott herd of Messrs E and M Scott, Derby. All were sired by Lutz-Meadow E Mandel and one, Escott Mandel Gredel, found favour with Newton Hall Farms from Skipton, North Yorks who paid 4100gns for this 16-week-old calf for their Eshton herd.

Averages: MOET – 18 cows and served heifers £1845; 23 heifers calves £785. Consignors – 12 head £1771. (Norton and Brooksbank with Wright-Manley). &#42
