Molassed feeds to rise by £5/tonne

PRICES of molassed-based liquid feeds are set to rise £5/t, according to Intermol, a division of Cargill.

Take-up of forward contracts has been far slower this year than last, with farmers postponing buying in the face of the over-quota situation and plentiful grazing.

But increased demand, and an end to the early-season discounts, will see prices rise to £123/t, says Intermols farm marketing manager Paul Chatterton. (Molasses are generally costing between £10 and £15/t more than this time last year.)
