Monsanto promises to be good

By FWi staff

MONSANTO, the worlds leading biotechnology company has formally pledged to be “honourable, ethical and open”, according to The Guardian.

Instead of promising that GM crops can feed the world and help the environment, Monsanto has turned over a new leaf, its boss tells the paper.

Monsanto president and chief executive Hendrik Verfaillie now says his company is contrite, listening and leading world business into an ethical age.

A spokesman for Friends of the Earth is reported as welcoming Monsantos pledges but adds: “It must face up to the fact that people do not want its food.”
