Moo for molasses

NINE out of ten producers say their cows prefer rations which include molasses, according to Phil Holder of SvG Intermol.

In a recent survey of first time molasses users, 91% said rations were more palatable as a result of molasses inclusion, with 75% saying that both animal performance and body condition had improved.

Including molasses also reduced feed waste, with 67% of producers reporting less feed waste in the survey.

"Reducing waste and improving livestock performance are natural priorities for all milk and meat producers. Such a good response suggests widespread potential for molasses use on livestock units," says Dr Holder. &#42
