MPs want 20mph rural speed limit

A GROUP of rural MPs is launching a campaign calling for a 20mph limit on country lanes and in villages.

About 150 MPs supporting the campaign are also urging the government to cut the national speed on minor rural roads from 60mph to 40mph.

The Council for the Protection of Rural England says official figures show that 10 times as many people are killed in accidents on country roads as on motorways.
