Much less scab

FEWER cases of sheep scab have been detected at markets this year, junior farm minister Angela Browning says in written reply to a Commons question.

Last year state vets found 363 animals needing treatment for scab and another 107 were sent direct to slaughter in 46 of the 2809 market checks.

The vets have just repeated the exercise and the results are being collated. "Provisional indications are, however, that the amount of scab found at markets has significantly decreased," she adds. &#42
