Mutual cash aid

EXTRA cash support, totalling £360,000, is being donated to UK farm unions by the NFU Mutual to help offset the cost of fighting the EUs beef export ban.

The cash donations include: £250,000 to the NFU, £50,000 to both the Scottish NFU and Ulster Farmers Union, and £5000 to both the Manx NFU and Scottish Crofters Union.

NFU Mutual chairman Alun Evans said the farmers unions were putting up a tremendous fight for their members and the Mutual felt "it was right to assist all farmers by providing extra funds to help top up depleted coffers".

Welcoming the money NFU leader Sir David Naish said it "will help us continue campaigning on all the issues which affect our members interests".
