Net threat to Covent Garden

Net threat to Covent Garden

A UK-based company, VFM International, aims to become the worlds first Internet-based fruit and vegetable exchange.

Vfm.net will be launched later this month as a rival to Londons Covent Garden market, according to the Financial Times.

Users will be charged a one-off connection fee and revenues will come from a sale fee collected from suppliers based on a percentage of the invoiced sales.

The company will initially focus on Europe. But VFM plans to start connecting users outside the Continent by the beginning of next year.
