NEtests negative

FOOT-and-mouth tests on more than 61,000 sheep in north-east England have proved negative, said the Newcastle Disease Emergency Control Centre. Tests were carried out on more than 1000 farms in Form D protection zones in Northumberland, Tyne and Wear, Co Durham and Teesside.

With no new F&M outbreaks since June 3, the number of farms under Form D restrictions in the area has continued to decline. About 2000 farms remain under restriction in Co Durham but only one farm is restricted in Northumberland. In Tyne and Wear, protection zones have been lifted completely and just a handful of farms remain restricted in Teesside. &#42
