New appointment at MLC
SCOTTISH agri-business entrepreneur John Whitehead has been appointed to the Meat & Livestock Commission.
Whitehead was a candidate for the post of director of the Scottish National Farmers Union (SNFU). He farms a small unit at Leven in Fife, and has been involved in various sectors of the food-processing and marketing chain.
He is a director of Scottish Food Quality Certification and has been involved with the Scottish Food Strategy Group.
Portpatrick farmer and former president of the SNFU John Ross has been re-appointed a commissioner, as has Ralph Green, managing director of McIntosh Donald, Portlethen.
