New top November bull

THE first November proof run for UK progeny tested black-and-white bulls shows a new number one, with Augusts leader Rosparry Thor dropping to number three, and yet another MOET-bred bull nearing the top 10.

In figures published by the Animal Data Centre, new leader is Etazon Celsius, with an ITEM of £123 and PIN of £122. However, EU animal health legislation (Livestock, Oct 30) means that little semen will be available from this Holland Genetics bull.

Moving back to second place, despite dropping £2 on ITEM, is Singing Brook N-B Mascot, with an ITEM and PIN of £119.

Rosparry Thor, from Avoncroft, who achieved second place in February and top place in May and August, drops to third place, with an ITEM of £117 and PIN of £113 – a £9 drop in ITEM and a £8 drop in PIN.

Etazon Labelle – another bull to be affected by the EU health legislation – is in fourth place with PIN and ITEM of £116, while Mars Silver Boy is fifth, with a PIN of £118 and ITEM of £115.

MOET Martha Franchise, in eighth place with an ITEM of £112 and PIN of £114, is joined by stable mate and highest climber MOET Flirt Freeman in 11th place with an ITEM of £112 and PIN of £115.
