New triazoles for spring

TWO new triazole fungicides, expected in time for next springs spraying, represent a limited step forward, says Dalgety.

Company trials indicate specific uses for AgrEvos fluquinconazole and Cyanamids metconazole, says arable marketing manager, Peter Corbett. "Fluquinconazole is looking very strong on septoria, whereas metconazole has a particularly good spectrum of control on barley diseases."

How much of an advance the new actives are over existing third generation triazoles, such as tebuconazole or epoxyconazole, will depend on recommendations and pricing, he says.

"We are talking about a small step forward; the strobilurin step was a lot bigger." &#42
